Logan S. Dorsett

Logan Dorsett is an associate in the firm's Energy Practice Group, where he advises landowners, operators, developers, investors, and energy companies on a wide range of transactional and commercial matters. His practice focuses on oil and gas transactions, renewable energy development, surface use and infrastructure agreements, energy-related acquisitions and divestitures, and complex title and ownership matters.

Before joining Harris, Finley & Bogle in 2021, Logan earned his degree in Energy Commerce from Texas Tech University, concentrating on oil and gas law, lease negotiation, joint operating agreements, and title examination. Prior to law school, he worked as a landman both in-house for an exploration and production company and as a broker performing title and due diligence projects throughout Texas. This industry experience provides him with a practical understanding of the business, operational, and title issues that often drive energy transactions.

Logan regularly represents clients in matters involving oil and gas leases, purchase and sale agreements, mineral and royalty transactions, surface use agreements, pipeline and utility infrastructure projects, wind and solar developments, carbon capture projects, and other energy-related commercial transactions.

A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Logan resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Lisa, and their two dogs, Stella and Kaizer.

• Represented a privately held oil and gas company in a $63 million purchase and sale agreement involving the acquisition of Permian Basin upstream oil and gas assets.
• Represented a privately held oil and gas company in a $49 million purchase and sale agreement involving the acquisition of Gulf Coast Basin upstream oil and gas assets.
• Represented a privately held oil and gas company in a $48 million purchase and sale agreement involving the disposition of Midland Basin upstream oil and gas assets.
• Represented a privately held oil and gas company in a $3.5 million purchase and sale agreement involving the disposition of upstream oil and gas assets located in Webb County, Texas.
• Represented a privately held oil and gas company in a $2.8 million purchase and sale agreement involving the disposition of upstream oil and gas assets located in Sterling and Mitchell Counties, Texas.
• Represented an oil and gas operator in connection with a $300 million joint development drilling program in the Permian Basin, together with the related acquisition of certain upstream oil and gas assets.

Renewable Energy and Energy Transition

• Represented a landowner in the negotiation of a wind energy lease covering approximately 15,000 acres, including lease economics, development obligations, surface-use protections, operations covenants, assignment restrictions, decommissioning obligations, and landowner remedies.
• Represented a landowner group in the negotiation of a utility-scale solar lease covering approximately 3,900 acres in Hood County, Texas, including project-development rights, rent structure, construction obligations, operational limitations, decommissioning security, and long-term landowner protections.
• Represented a landowner in the negotiation of a utility-scale solar lease covering approximately 2,800 acres in Pecos County, Texas, including site-control rights, project milestones, surface-use limitations, restoration obligations, and protections relating to project financing and future assignments.
• Represented a mineral interest owner in connection with a surface use agreement covering approximately 3,400 acres in Jack County and Palo Pinto County, Texas, addressing co-use of the surface estate between existing oil and gas operations and a proposed solar energy project.
• Represented a privately held data center company in a membership interest purchase agreement for the acquisition of all membership interests in a special purpose entity used for renewable energy project development.
• Represented a landowner group in the negotiation of a purchase agreement granting site-control rights for a proposed data center development, for approximately $10 million.

Midstream and Energy Infrastructure

• Represented a privately held midstream pipeline company in a membership interest purchase agreement for the sale of all membership interests in an entity holding East Texas gathering system assets to a publicly traded company for approximately $8 million.

Transmission and Public Utility Commission Matters

• Represented a landowner in proceedings before the Public Utility Commission of Texas involving the Big Hill-to-Sand Lake 765-kV transmission line project.
• Represented a landowner in proceedings before the Public Utility Commission of Texas involving the Dinosaur Switch-to-Longshore Switch 765-kV transmission line project.
