Barbara was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1987. She graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington (B.A., 1982) and Baylor University (J.D., 1986).

Barbara is a member of the Women Attorneys Section of the Tarrant County Bar Association, is a Master of the John C. Ford American Inn of Court, is a member of the State Bar College, and is a member and former officer of the Tarrant County Bankruptcy Bar Association.
