Andrew D. Sims (Andy) has practiced law with the firm of Harris, Finley & Bogle, P.C. in
Fort Worth, Texas, for twenty-one (21) years. He is admitted to practice before the
United States Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Courts
for the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas, and all Texas State
trial and appellate courts. Andy has been certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization
in Civil Appellate Law since 1992, and Civil Trial Law since 1993. Andy is serving his second
three-year term on the Texas Board of Legal Specialization Civil Trial Exam Commission, and
served as Chair of the Appellate Section of the Tarrant County Bar Association in 2005-2006.
Andy is also a Master in the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court, is rated AV ¹ by Martindale-Hubbell,
and has been selected as a “Superlawyer” in Business Litigation in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007
by Texas Monthly magazine (top 5% of practicing attorneys in Texas according to the selection criteria).
Andy’s trial practice involves complex business litigation and
arbitration, including oil and gas, real estate, financial institutions, insurance,
contracts, construction, shareholder oppression and derivative suits, corporate
governance, fiduciary litigation, business torts, intellectual property, and litigation
before administrative agencies, including the representation of automobile dealers on
matters before the Motor Vehicle Division of the Texas Department of Transportation in
Austin, Texas. Andy also represents churches and denominational organizations in a variety of matters, including Constitutional issues.
Andy’s appellate practice includes the representation of clients in
mandamus matters, interlocutory appeals, and appeals of judgments in both
state and federal courts. Numerous published appellate opinions on
which Andy has worked evidence the variety of his appellate and trial
litigation experience.
Andy is a member of numerous professional associations and
organizations, including the Council of Appellate Lawyers of the American Bar
Association, Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit, the Federal Bar
Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar
Foundation, and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation.
Andy attended Baylor University as a National Merit Scholar and graduated from Baylor’s
Honors Program in 1983. He also attended Baylor Law School where he achieved induction into the
honorary legal fraternity, Phi Delta Phi, and where he graduated in 1986.
